Creating Opportunities

Startups are all about compromise and cutting scope, which makes perfect sense when you’re trying to build v0 with a small team. Surprise and delight are the first things to get cut when scope is tight, so I had to be very strategic about where I could add those moments without slowing us down. On top of that, SAAS tools aren’t usually known for their personality because the functionality of the software is priority. Instead, I took advantage of functional views and states and tried to use those areas as blank canvases.

Across our entire product you can find sprinkles of joy and whimsy in empty views, default states, and even error screens.

Logo Design

After spending some time exploring ideas for logos, I finally landed on a simple stylistic "P". The monochromatic version was perfect for light and dark modes and the outlined version provided flexibility for different mediums. The little blocks also opened up a creative outlet for endless possibilities — I started by shuffling the blocks around and playing with colour and before I knew it they started to look like little creatures. The rest is history! Goobers were an instant hit and we ended up using them in really meaningful ways throughout the product and marketing sites.
